Kaiser Clairmont Medical Office Building
LocationSan Diego, California
As a replacement for the existing Clairemont facility, the design of this 90,000 S.F. medical office building is supported by the principles of the Reimagining Ambulatory Design (RAD) initiative. The replacement MOB was sited to allow for future master plan flexibility and for the existing MOB to remain in operation until the completion of the project. As a result, an entirely new entry experience to the site was created.
The design is focused on wellness, achieved through a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. As you enter the site, outdoor community areas and a thrive path lead you towards the public square entry, framed by the front porch waiting areas and conference center. The public square is anchored by an interior view garden, bringing daylight and a connection to nature into the space. Sustainable design strategies continue at the naturally ventilated front porches, which frame views of natural landscape and public square activity below. The building forms are enhanced with a natural material palette and strategically placed color, activating spaces and allowing for intuitive wayfinding
