San Diego Zoo – Bashor Bridge

Location
San Diego, California
About

Spanning 450 feet across Asian Passage with postcard-worthy views of the California Tower, the Bashor Bridge rises 75 feet up into the tree canopy. The bridge, designed using long span steel trusses and vertical tree columns, has greatly enhanced accessibility through the zoo via connections both horizontal and vertical. The elevator tower soars into the tree canopy with a stair that circulates around with views out to Africa Rocks and beyond. It not only provides an important new pedestrian link across the canyon but also serves as a destination for events. New pedestrian plazas and kiosks anchor the bridge above and below the canyon with food, shade, seating and views of the San Diego Zoo.
